Farooq Abdullah's statement of history is correct as far
as we are informed by other writers of history and those
who were politicians involved in the project. It was not that
Nehru was solely responsible. He was not. But he held the
key to the entire outcome and he could have averted it. He
could have put in suitable measures and provided appropriate
remedies;  the agitation for partition would then have
evaporated. His reasons for not acting:  Jinnah was from
a different political party;  Jinnah did not participate with
him  and was an opponent in the erstwhile elections.
