INTERESTING LIFE WITH LEGAL PROBLEMS....

Legal problems always keep cropping up. And the lawyers have ingenious ways to identify them and then argue on them.  Well , one such problem was the removal of CJ of Sri Lanka. It was illegal because the parliament did not move a motion to remove her.  The then president removed her without a proper motion from the parliament.

Some time ago, the former deputy prime minister was sent to prison for 5 years for an 'unnatural carnal connection offence'.   The law enables  him to apply to the Head of  State,  the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a royal pardon. He (the sentenced party)  did not apply for it himself but his wife and children did. They signed it. Now lawyers say that the aggrieved party must sign and not the wife and children. That is another legal problem. Let's see how that problem will be tackled by the law.

Don't these legal problems and how they are solved make life interesting? Let's watch....

HOW REMOVAL OF CJ BECAME ILLEGAL (PM WICKRAMASINGHE)

Making a special statement in Parliament on Friday Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that no doubt has been cast on the verdicts delivered by the Supreme Court over the past two years.
He further stated that it is clear that the President never received any motion  adopted by a majority of members of parliament, calling for the removal of Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake, due to any misdemeanor or inability. The Prime Minister added that when reading Article 107 part 2 of the constitution, it is evident that the President made an illegal and arbitrary decision to remove the Chief Justice.
