Nandan PaNan conversation poem MY REPLY:

கவலைஒன் றில்லை நெஞ்சில்
கடவுளைக் கடைந்து கண்டால்,
தவலையுள்* தயிரை மத்தால்
தவறாமல் ஆய்ச்சி போலே; 
துவளுறும் துன்ப வாழ்வில்
துறக்கமே காணும் பாதை
சவளறத் தந்த ஐயர்
சாந்துணை ஏத்தத் தக்கார்.

அன்றுள நந்தன் பாணன்
ஆயவர் பேசிக் கொண்டார்
நன்றிவை சொன்ன பாங்கு
நான்மிகப் புகழ்ந்து சொல்வேன்;
ஒன்றது தெய்வம்; மாலும்
உயர்சிவ னாரும் என்ற
தென்றிசை மேலோர் வாய்மை
தெளிவுற நீவிர் சொன்னீர்.


My internet  senior friend  Suda wrote a imaginative poem, in which Nandan and PaNan had a conversation. It was quite interesting. I wrote, this  stanza in appreciation of the poem.  8th November 2010, 07:29 PM

அவல்.

"அவலாகு ஒன்றோ மிகையாகு ஒன்றோ" என்பது ஔவையாரின்  பாடல் வரிகள். புறம் 187

அவல் என்பது மலைப்பாங்கான இடத்துக்கு எதிரான பொருளில் இப்பாடலில் வருகிறது. மலை என்ற சொல்லுக்கு மடுவு என்பதுபோலவும், மேடு என்பதற்குப் பள்ளம் என்பது போலவும் எதிராக உள்ளது.

அரிசியிலிருந்து செய்யப்படும் அவல் என்பது வேறு.

அழு > ஆழ் > ஆழம்.
அழு > ஆழ் > ஆழ்தல்.
அழு > அழுந்து.
அழு > அழுந்து  > அழுந்துதல்.
அழு > அழுவம்.

  azuvam 1. depth; 2. pit; 3. deep sea; 4. expanse; 5. jungle, forest; 6. country, district; 7. battle; 8. middle; 9. abundance, copiousness; 10. greatness, excellence; 11. fortress

அழு > ( அழுவல் ) > அவல்.

எனவே, "ழு" இடைக்குறைந்து, அவலாயிற்று

இதில், அழுவம் என்பதனோடு ஒப்பிட்டு, அழுவல் மீட்டுருவாக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இனி, அழு  > அழுவு > அவு >  அவல் என்றும் இதனை உணர்ந்துகொள்ளலாம்.
